Alan Heatherington, Music Director and Conductor The season got off to a glorious start with Mendelssohn's magnificent oratorio St. Paul in November. Our holiday concerts delighted audiences with three performances of a beautiful program of Christmas music accompanied by a fine orchestra of oboe, harp, and strings. In February, the Chorale presented Vaughan Williams' Mass in g minor along with several other shorter Vaughan Williams works. The season concluded with two concerts presenting what we called a Psalmfest, a wonderful program of shorter sacred works by American and Polish composers, some a cappella and some accompanied by piano or organ. Highlighting the list of American composers was Randall Thompson with four works on the program (including his famous Alleluia); the chorus also performed three works from the Jewish liturgy written by Meir Finkelstein. The final work on the program was a delightful short Mass by Stanislaw Moniuszko (1819-1872), the most beloved of composers in his native Poland. We were honored by the attendance of several members of the Polish Consulate at the April 23 concert. View this full concert program [pdf]… FALL CONCERTFriday, November 11 Mendelssohn: St. Paul
