Meanwhile, here is some general information that will give you an idea of what is expected of CMS members.

Auditions

All prospective CMS members must audition for membership on scheduled annual audition dates. Auditions for each season are normally scheduled during the second two weeks of August, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Countryside Unitarian Church in Palatine. If you are interested in joining CMS in mid-season, please call and we will schedule an audition prior to the rehearsal series for the next available concert.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held at Countryside Unitarian Church in Palatine on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00pm from late August through the final concert in late April. Absences from rehearsals must be avoided unless absolutely necessary; no more than 3 absences are permitted for the November and April concerts, and no more than one absence for the December concert. All rehearsals during concert week (including additional rehearsals which usually take place on Tuesday and Thursday) are mandatory.

Dues and Music

Dues are paid annually by each member and help defray some of our operating costs. Every chorister must purchase his or her own music. Those who already own the same edition of a score may use it and save the expense for that item.
