Chicago Master Singers and the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest presented a special performance of Mozart's Requiem at Divine Word Chapel on September 11, 2002, one of a series of performances of this work worldwide in remembrance of those who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

An overflow audience (more than one thousand people seated and standing in the nave, the side chapel, and the balconies) heard this magnificent music beautifully performed by a chorus of more than one hundred, along with soprano Gail Beckman, alto Julia Bentley, tenor Kurt R. Hansen, and bass Peter Van De Graaff, and a professional orchestra including members of the Lake Forest Symphony and Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra, all under the direction of Alan Heatherington.

The performance began at exactly 8:46 am, timed to coincide with the moment the first plane crashed into New York's Twin Towers.
