Alan Heatherington, Music Director and Conductor The concerts were resoundingly successful, and Chicago Tribune reviewer Dan Tucker observed: "In their hands the [Brahms] Requiem... became a living message of peace and reassurance." Local composer Lee Kesselman took a bow at each of our first concert performances this season, as his Let Peace Descend opened the program that also included Eric Zeisl's powerful Requiem Ebraico and Haydn's Paukenmesse. Our Christmas concerts drew their usual enthusiastic crowds, and the season concluded with an all-Brahms program featuring the Requiem along with the lesser-known but very beautiful Nänie and two unaccompanied choral motets performed by the CMS Chorale.
