Alan Heatherington, Music Director and Conductor Audience members expressed wonderment that Liszt's Coronation Mass and Psalm 13 are not performed more often. After appearing at Symphony Center as the featured chorus at the Day of Music, CMS performed as guest artists in the Lake Forest Symphony 's subscription series performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Our fall subscription concerts followed, with triumphant performances of works by Schubert, Haydn, and Holst. The Chorale gave a special performance at St. Francis de Sales Church in Lake Zurich with some very beautiful Christmas music, accompanied by oboe and harp. To accommodate the high demand for seats at our Christmas concerts, Chicago Master Singers presented three performances this year at Divine Word Chapel, all very well attended. The season ended on its usual triumphant note with performances of two rarely-heard but beautiful choral works by Lizst, along with the glorious Bruckner Te Deum. Audience members left in wonderment that the Coronation Mass and Psalm 13 are not performed more often. Our professional soloists turned in stellar performances, with an especially moving interpretation of the Psalm by Austrian tenor, Bernhard Berchtold.
